Overview
Growing fast in popularity, Beestar National Competition (BNC) is the most convenient way for
grade school students to participate in a national contest.
Never before could students use their
flexible spare time to take part in such a significant event.
Beestar online competition
is designed to bring students nation-wide together to solve interesting
problems and have fun competing with one another. Based on the widely accepted school curricula,
it is open to students of all states and all skill levels.
Parents will find out how their kids are doing beyond their local school district.
Competition, Interest, Motivation
Motivation and interest are keys to persistent and insightful learning. Participating in a competition
is a great way to develop interests. Students can learn from each other and enjoy the subject more in a friendly circle.
The problems in BNC are designed to consolidate fundamental knowledge and skills. Given in a much wider variety,
BNC problems let students see vivid applications of what they learn in school.
They often change students from passive listeners to active question raisers in the classroom.
The process elevates their school skills to a new level.
Most successful students distinguish themselves early by their enthusiasm in learning.
With more interest, they learn much more effectively in classroom.
To go one level further and achieve academic excellence, students also need to think out of the box and solve problems
creatively.
Beesar National Competition's 2nd round goes beyond school curricula and expose students to more interesting
and mind-stretching topics. Participating in the competition broadens students' perspective significantly as
they think beyond the conventional scope to develop advanced skills.
The problem puzzles inspire students' desire to wonder and to explore, along their way to academic excellence.
Participating Beestar National Competition Online
Beestar National Competition is open to all students who have Internet access.
Parents and teachers are expected to register the competition for their students.
The registration fee is $7 per student. If you do not have a Beestar account, you need to open one. It is completely free.
Beestar will hold math competition by grade levels in every fall and spring semester.
More subjects will be available in the near future. Please check the Schedules page for details and updates.
Beestar Competition Format
BNC is online. Each competition (full score 160 points) has 2 rounds; each round (80 points) has 4 exams of 20 points each.
In the competition week, the competition starts on Monday and ends on Thursday night at 11:59 p.m.
Round 1 is the Dash Round (80 points). It consists of 4 exams focusing on the fundamentals. Each exam of the Dash Round has 10 questions and
each question is worth 2 points.
Students have a window of 2 days (all day Monday and Tuesday) to complete Round 1 (about 60 minutes for 4 exams).
Round 2 is the Spark Round (80 points). It consists of 4 exams of interesting and challenging problems.
Each exam of the Spark Round has 5 questions and each question is worth 4 points.
Students have a window of 2 days (all day Wednesday and Thursday) to complete Round 2 (about 60 minutes for 4 exams).
In each round, students can work on its 4 exams any time within the 2-day window.
The system times each exam individually when the student opens it.
In average, one exam takes less than 15 minutes. If an exam is not submitted within 30 minutes,
the session will time out and that exam will not be counted.
Students should work on the exams in the given sequential order because some questions may be based on the context of previous ones.
The rankings are based on a student's accuracy scores. If two scores are tied, speed is the tie-breaker.
On Saturday, each participant will see the competition scores, percentile, and statistic data in his/her account.
The top students in the competition will be recognized and honored on the competition result page.
